National Centre for Disaster Psychiatry – KcKP

How people are affected by highly stressful events is of scientific and clinical interest . Novel treatments for trauma-related disorders and evidence-informed guidelines for crisis support have been developed. The psychological consequences of stressful events, such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), can lead to serious health problems.

The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare established the National Centre for Disaster Psychiatry as a centre of knowledge at the University of Uppsala. The centre is located within the department of neuroscience, Uppsala University in close collaboration with the department of psychiatry at the Uppsala University Hospital.
